Letter to Scott Anderson

Mr. Scott Anderson,

A sad day in the life of the Church is when a member, or group of members brings discredit to God and the Church upon which He founded by distorting His Word to suit their own needs and agendas. Such is the case with you and the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.).

I have read several news articles concerning your ordination despite the fact that you profess to be openly gay, even naming your “life partner”. Because you also profess to be a Christian, it is my duty as a fellow believer in Christ (see 1CO 5:12 and JAS 5:19-20) , to attempt to correct your thinking before it is too late. As you should already know as a leader in the Church, you are held to a higher standard therefore, you will be judged more strictly (JAS 3:1). 

The Church of Jesus Christ continues to evolve into something that our Founder never intended, and it is due to the efforts of people like you, who, rather than admit your sin and struggle with it like most true believers, you have found a way to justify it. You know as well as I do that although the word, homosexual is not used in the Bible, homosexual behavior is most certainly described along with other sexual immorality and perversions (See Romans 1:26-27 for example).

In one news article I read,

Anderson also believes that his ordination may be an example of the Christian church, regardless of denomination, recognizing that divergent views on scripture exist. He explains:

“Our church is recognizing there are a variety of viewpoints on scripture. There’s no longer a right viewpoint and a wrong viewpoint but several faithful viewpoints, one of which includes me in terms of being a minister in the Presbyterian church. What you are saying in reality is that truth is relative, even from the very mouth of God. It is not logical for two opposing viewpoints to both be correct. One must be wrong. It is one thing to misinterpret Scripture, but quite another to believe that the Scripture itself is erroneous. In your opinion, the Scriptures concerning homosexual behavior must be either misinterpreted or erroneous (Two faithful viewpoints?). What are the others? The Bible is God’s Word or it’s not, you can’t have it both ways. You either believe it in its fullness, or you don’t.

Since you profess to be a Christian, and since you intend to remain in ministry, even perhaps becoming a pastor one day, you will be listed on my website as a false teacher with information warning others to avoid you and your inclusive teaching.
